Music

My music lessons have been going swimmingly. Our local Barony is very lucky to have a musical community, including a period performing group called Fracta Modi. The head of the group is a music teacher mundanely, and he very graciously offered to teach another woman and myself how to play the recorder. I’ve been learning the soprano, alto, and alto played an octave up. Sometimes my brain rebels and I play with the fingers for the alto when I’m using the soprano, and vice versa, but for the most part I enjoy the versatility of using both instruments. It’s essentially a first instrument for both myself and the other participant, so we are still struggling with some concepts – for me it’s largely a complete lack of internal rhythm. But it’s coming along, and I’m very much enjoying myself.
